Our Quality Engineer is a core member of an autonomous team focused on the development and   optimization of processes within one of the Basic American Foods plants by engaging team members through the efforts of developing, evaluating, testing, analyzing, controlling, and implementing improved  product quality programs grounded in Quality Engineering, 6-Sigma, and Lean manufacturing concepts.

What will you do?

  1. Responsible for creating and implementing programs that utilize Lean and 6-Sigma tools to drive reductions in losses and quality defects from the plant. The Quality Engineer is involved from design to implementation to continual improvement in various processes and may be responsible for all or part of these elements.  Verification and Health Checks of the system for PDCA are responsibilities of the Quality Engineer.  These systems shall cover the predictive indicators at a line level, to analyzing the results of the trailing Quality Loss Metrics of production lines, all the way up to holistic systems. 
  1. The Quality Engineer is the key party responsible for performing Quality data analytics with a post-accountability of developing, updating, controlling, and improving Process & Quality Control Plans. This includes specification limits and methods of validation/verification, as well as quantitatively validating the process capability (e.g., cpk/ppk) per these specification control limits. The scope of this encompasses raw material through to bulk or palletized product and all process & packaging steps in-between. 
  1. Responsible for supporting the autonomous team in the investigation, development, and implementation of improvements and technologies to optimize manufacturing process performance, increased profitability, and enhanced food quality, food safety, and personnel safety. This includes making as many testing methods on-the-line and real-time as capable and safely possible. 
  1. Attends regular Tier meetings and supports the Production Improvement Process via standard work by monitoring the performance of assigned processes and holding appropriate parties accountable to close actions. This shall be accomplished by leading and facilitating investigations and RCA via the process owners (operators, team leads, etc.) and driving actions via the Leadership Team for the Line(s) and the Plant. 
  1. Responsible for timely and effective communication of project activities to superiors and to internal customers, including Department and Facility Managers, Corporate Marketing, and project team associates. Facilitates Quality Improvement Meetings to drive appropriate actions to reduce problems and losses. 
  1. Proficient and comfortable presenting data to various levels in the company from production personnel to peers and upper management and adjusts to the audience as appropriate. Effectively communicates complex ideas and information using simple terms and checks for clarity and understanding.

What do you need?

Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college, or university.  Most degrees in an engineering or science related field will be considered.

This position is located in Rexburg, Idaho. Our skyline consists of the majestic Teton Mountain Range, and in our backyard, is the world's most famous park - Yellowstone.
