The Manufacturing Manager position is accountable for production and packaging management including the planning and execution of activities necessary to meet product production volumes established by sales requirements, and contributing to overall company profits through management of high standards of quality, safety, cost control, employee involvement, and "Lean Thinking" in support of Continuous Improvement initiatives.  This position plays a key role in providing the high volume, product flexibility, and cost base necessary for the company to maintain a successful and competitive position in dry potato markets. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage operations by demonstrating excellent judgment and the ability to solve complex problems with plant teams to meet each customer requirement, incorporating high standards of quality, safety, and cost control.

Effectively manages annual plant budget within guidelines to achieve fiscal goals. Manages operations by making decisions needed to set and maintain high performance standards that meet all outside agency regulations standards. Prioritizes all projects assigned and be able to delegate appropriately to accomplish strategic direction and set goals.

Manages product quality by adherence to product and packaging specifications, GMPS and Sanitation Guidelines, FM prevention, inline routine sanitation, area sanitation and tool inspection.  Participates in customer contacts via customer complaint responses and customer visits. 

Champion operational excellence initiatives of Continuous Improvement (Lean), Quality (SQF Level 2 and 3), and safety. 

Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of "What We Stand For" and "The Basic Principles."
Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies.  Regularly complete behavior based safety observations.  Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

All employees are responsible for upholding the principles of SQF 2000.

All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

Other duties may be assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                  

Directly supervises employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                                

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university and eight to ten years related  manufacturing experience required.  Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.

general public. 

Mathematical Skills                                                    

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

Reasoning Ability                                                       

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Computer Skills                                            

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
